When you get injured, who do you see?
Columbia Park Medical Group has a team of providers that can help you recover from injury.
The front line of this team is your primary care physician - your pediatrician, family practitioner, nurse practitioner or urgent care provider. This group of primary care providers is backed up by sports medicine physicians with advanced training in the evaluation and management of all injuries. These sports medicine physicians work with athletes on a regular basis, but they are equally comfortable in treating any of the injuries, aches and pains that occur during every day activities: jammed fingers, sprained ankles, skin splints, twisted knees, back, neck and shoulder pain as well as simple fractures.
The orthopedic surgeons at CPMG are experts in the treatment of the more complicated injuries. They set broken bones and also manage muscle-skeletal problems that require surgical care. With their advanced training, they can often provide the final word as consultants to the primary care and sports medicine physicians.
To complete this team, CPMG has a network of physical therapits and athletic trainers to provide rehabilitation after injury. Working closely with primary care providers, sports medicine physicians and their orthopedic colleagues, the physical therapists further assess and treat after identifiying the functional limitations experienced by the injured patient. Their philosophy is that "we do not fix patients, but we assist them trying to fix themselves." The goal of the physical therapist is to enable the patient to return to a normal level of function.
